An amazing DIY way to reuse an old jar
This creative, renter-friendly, plastic DIY storage container is perfect to store small things that need to be put out of the way. The peanut butter jar is perfect to recycle into a storage container because the lid can attach to a surface above which eliminates clutter on your counter or desk. It can occupy the vertical space above items on a shelf as it hangs from the shelf above.
In addition, this is a great way to reuse plastic instead of throwing it away. This creative solution gives a new life to a used product and provides storage which is always important and helpful in a small apartment.
Step 1: Wash out the empty peanut butter jar
Once you’ve finished your peanut butter, begin to clean it out. Scrape out any excess peanut butter you can, then soak it in soap and water and scrub off the rest until it is clean.
Step 2: Attach command strips to the lid
Once the peanut butter jar is completely cleaned and dry, attach the command strips to the top of the lid. Using command strips makes this a great renter-friendly option as the command strips are designed to be removed without a trace.
As long as you’re not planning on placing anything too heavy in the jar, 2 “poster hanging” command strips is sufficient.
Step 3: Attach the lid to a surface
Press and hold the plastic lid to the surface you want the jar to hang from for 30 seconds. This will secure the lid into place and hold the jar hanging.
Step 4: Screw in the bottom
Put whatever items you want to hold in the jar and screw it into place.
Step 5: Enjoy 🙂
Enjoy your DIY storage container as you make use of vertical space in your small apartment.
