How to store your clothes when you have no space
If you live in a small bedroom in a small apartment, especially a studio apartment, you are in need of creative ideas for clothes storage. Whether you are looking for ways to maximize your closet space or store clothes in a room without a closet, this post will give you tons of ideas for efficient clothing storage.
You can maximize your closet space by utilizing different techniques including storage boxes, racks, and hooks. Here are more details on those clothes storage ideas.
In a Closet
If you are lucky enough to have a big closet in your small bedroom, take advantage of it! Use dressers and shelves to store as much as possible out of the way. The less you have out in your bedroom the better.
By keeping your drawers organized and separated into different compartments you can maximize the space in your closet while keeping your clothes easily accessible.
There are many different accessories that can be used to organize a small closet space, from things that hang on the pole to things that organize drawers. Here are some of the best options I’ve found for closet storage items.
You can also utilize the closet door itself by hanging a shoe organizer on the back. In my experience, this saves a ton of space and is especially helpful when there isn’t a lot of floor space for shoes. In addition, the floor space could be better used for drawers, dressers, and other storage.
This is the one I have and it works great. I specifically recommend it for narrow doors (less than 3 feet wide).
Without a Closet
If you don’t have a closet you will need a way to hang your clothes. Hanging storage ideas include free-standing hanging racks and freestanding wardrobes.
Free Standing Hanging Rack
These options are great if you want to see your clothes. It can even be an aesthetic statement piece in your room if you choose the color and types of clothes that you display
You can also have freestanding shelves with baskets that you can use to hide small and unwanted items out of sight. Or you can use it to store folded clothes.
Another good option is hooks on the wall that are a great option for hats, purses, or scarves.
There are some great options on Amazon. I recommend these ones but be sure to measure your space beforehand and get one that fits your space. The different racks range in price, length, height, and storage shelves. You will have to assess your storage needs before buying, but these are some great options.
Pros: relatively cheap, usually easy to set up, aesthetic, and can fit into narrow spaces
Cons: can look messy if everything isn’t organized, and everything is on display. It can have limited storage in terms of weight restraints
Wardrobes
There are many different wardrobes on the market that can be set up and virtually replace your closet. They have a lot of space and are usually very tall and sturdy. You can find some great options on Amazon or IKEA.
Pros: lots of space and weight allowance
Cons: Can be bulky and interfere with the eyesight flow of the space making it seems smaller.
Under the Bed
In a small bedroom, every cubic foot is important. One significant space is under the bed. It can be used to provide much-needed clothing storage space in a small bedroom

Long Term Storage
For excess items such as thick blankets or winter coats that are not needed in the summer, you can use a vacuum storage solution which works by sucking out the air from the bag to drastically reduce the size of the item.
The bag can then be tucked away in the back of the closet or on a shelf without taking up any room at all. And then, when needed it can be opened without the fear of it being dusty from its long storage time.
